KillProcess is a small utility that displays and terminates any process running under Windows operating systems. The program interface is simple and easy to use. Multiple processes can be selected and stopped at once. Each process icon, name, ID, and path are displayed.
Sometimes this information is not enough to identify what a process does, or to which application it belongs.
A program can also run multiple processes, each one with a different name. In order to help with this, KillProcess offers two options. First ones is to search the process on Google. Right clicking on the process name and selecting Google search, will launch a browser window with the search results. The second option - View from www.fileinspect.com - works the same, but it searches the process on File Inspect site. This is an online data base maintained by Auslogics Software, which provides good and reliable information about thousands of processes.
The search options are very helpful for security investigations as well, allowing easy identification of malware applications.
KillProcess can be configured to scan the computer and terminate certain processes automatically. The Scanning frequency can be set from 15 seconds to one hour.
Stopping critical processes can lead to operation system failures, data loss, or even a system reboot. To prevent this, the program displays a warning each time the user tries to stop certain processes.
KillProcess was designed to work on Windows XP. It can be installed and used on more recent operation systems, but some text overlapping bugs might occur. However, the program functionality is not affected.

Pros

  • A simple way to stop Windows processes.
  • Process detailed information.

Cons

  • None to mention.
